1. Overview

The library offers downloadable eAudiobooks.  To view our entire collection you must log in with your library card number. Visit www.swanlibrary.org and click on the Overdrive icon to view our catalog.

 Our eAudiobooks are compatible with both Windows PCs and Macs, as well as eReaders with MP3 players and portable music players.  A complete list of compatible devices can be found on the Overdrive website in the left-hand
column under compatible audio players.

You must install Overdrive Media Console on your computer before you can use
 library eAudiobooks.

To transfer an eAudiobook to your device you must download it to your computer and use Overdrive Media Console to transfer it to your eReader or view the eBook on your computer

2. Getting Overdrive Media Console

Downloading Overdrive Media Console       Overdrive Media Console is a free application that is used to organize eAudiobook collections, listen to eAudiobooks on a computer, and transfer eAudiobooks to compatible devices.
Overdrive Media Console can be downloaded at the Overdrive website under the “Software Downloads” section in the left-hand column. The first time you attempt to download a
library eAudiobook, Overdrive Media Console checks to see if your computer needs a security upgrade.  If you need to do this, simply follow the onscreen prompts.

3. Using the Overdrive Catalog

Browsing and Searching the Overdrive Catalog    Featured eAudiobooks can be browsed on the Overdrive homepage.  Make sure to login to the website to view our entire collection of downloadable eAudiobooks.
You can also keyword search the catalog using the search bar at the top of the page or using the advanced search features by clicking the “Advanced search...” link which is also located at the top of the page.
Checking out an eBook                                 
   To check out a title, tap the “Add to
Selections” link next to the “MP3 Audiobook” or “WMA Audiobook” icons.  If an eAudiobook is unavailable, the “Add to Selections” button will instead read “Place a Hold.” 
NOTE:  Make sure you select the correct type of eAudiobook for your player or it will not play.
Once you proceed to checkout, you will be prompted to select how long you wish to
borrow the title.  After you click the “Confirm Checkout” button, the web page will display a “Download” button next to a thumbnail image
of the book’s cover.  This will automatically
open Overdrive Media Console.
A pop-op will appear titled “Get Media”, click “ok” if that is where you want your file saved.  A second pop-up will appear asking what segments of the eAudiobook you would like to download.  You may select as many or as few as you choose.  You will see the download’s progress on the bottom of the Overdrive Media Console screen.  If you do not get the second pop-up, you can click on the “Download” icon near the top of the screen.
Once downloading is complete you can double click on the book cover icon and listen to your eAudiobook. 

4.  Transferring your eAudiobook

Plug your device into your computer.  Make sure that your computer recognizes the device before moving on to the next step. 
WMA eAudiobook Transfer    Click on the book cover you want to transfer.  Next, click on the “Transfer” icon on the top of the window.  This will open up the “Transfer    Wizard” in a pop-up window.
Click “Next” on the “Transfer Wizard” pop-up.  Your computer will now search for your device.  Follow the onscreen prompts to transfer your eAudiobook.
Apple device eAudiobook Transfer   Open “iTunes” if it did not open when you plugged your device in.  Locate your device in the left-hand column and click on it.  A summary screen should display.  Place a checkmark next to the option labeled “Manually manage music…”  Click the “Apply” button.
