FRIENDS PURPOSE:
The purpose of this organization shall be to maintain an association of persons interested in stregthening and supporting the interests of the Swan Library, enhancing and promoting its usefulness as a community library whose service area is comprised of the four central towns of Orleans County - Albion, Barre, Carlton and Gaines.

Colored Pencil Portrait Raffle going on now!
To benefit the FRIENDS of Swan Library by local artist, Laura Groth. The winner will receive a 11" x 14" framed portrait of a person of their choice. This drawing will be done in time for Christmas and will make a wonderful gift. The tickets are $1.00 each or 6 tickets for $5.00. Tickets will be available through any FRIEND member and at Swan Library. The drawing will be held on Thursday, December 6th, 2007!

FRIENDS Book Sale - November 17th and 18th
We will be offering you a fantastic collection of gently used books from A-Z. Stop in, we may have that perfect book you've been looking for at a minimal price. All proceeds benefit the FRIENDS of Swan Library. Call the library if you have any questions at 589.4246.

FRIENDS of Swan Library Host a Greater Gift Sale - November 17th and 18th
A Greater Gift is a program of SERRV International, a nonprofit alternative trade and development organization. Their aim is to promote the social and economic progress of people in developing regions of the world by marketing their handicraft and food products.
A Greater Gift/SERRV International works with thousands of small-scale artisans and farmers in Africa, Asia, Latin America and other developing regions of the world. Through their work with 90 community based organizations in 34 countries they create economic opportunities for producers to support their families. They help the producers to become economically self-sufficient through training, technical assistance, market access and more. Purchase of gift items provide income, dignity and hope to people in developing regions of the world.
The Friends of Swan Library invite you to a sale featuring many items by SERRV’s participating artisans and farmers from around the world. The sale will be hosted at Swan Library on Saturday, November 17th from 10AM-2PM and on Sunday, November 18th from 11AM-2PM. The lobby display case currently features many of the items which will be available at the sale. Stop in for a preview.

The FRIENDS present "Tasty Treats" December 6th at 7pm
Yummy treats made especially for you to enjoy by the FRIENDS of Swan Library themselves. The FRIENDS will again showcase their famous recipes that their friends and relatives have come to love as their holiday tradition. Come and enjoy this free event. All are welcome, please call Swan Library at 589.4246 for more information and to sign up. Don't miss it!

How Do I beome a FRIEND of Swan Library?
It's easy! We welcome everyone to our fun group. The FRIENDS lend a helping hand to the Swan Library. Here is a little about what we do. We have an on-going booksale which include books published by local authors at the circulation desk. Click here to see a full list of books for sale by all our local authors. We also help with various programs at the Swan Library. We serve ice cream at our Ice Cream Social, bake tasty treats for our Tasty Treats holiday event in December, and in June we help at the Strawberry Festival. This easy going group is always there to make life a little better for our community. This is a great group to be part of.
