Kindle eBooks
You can borrow free Kindle eBooks from the NIOGA Library System. You must login to Overdrive to view our entire
collection. Visit www.swanlibrary.org and click on the Overdrive icon to view our catalog.
Once you have selected an eBook, it can either be downloaded to your Kindle wirelessly or downloaded to a computer and transferred to your Kindle via a USB cable. Kindle eBooks are compatible with all versions of the Amazon Kindle eReader as well as any Smartphone, tablet, or computer that has the Kindle app installed.
From the Overdrive homepage, select the “Login” tab at the top right-hand side of the screen. After you are logged in click on the “Digital Home” tab. eBooks can be browsed by clicking the links listed below “eBook Fiction” and “eBook Nonfiction” in the column on the left-hand side of the screen. You can also keyword search using the search bar at the top of the page.
To check out an eBook, click the “Add to Selections” link next to the “Kindle Book” icon. If an eBook is unavailable, the “Add to Selections” link will instead read “Place on Hold.”
Once you proceed to check out, you will be prompted to select how long you wish to borrow the eBook. Click on the “Confirm Check out” Button. Next, the website will display a “Get for Kindle” button that will redirect you to the Amazon.com website to get your eBook.
Click the yellow “Get Library Book” button on the right-hand side of the
webpage and then sign in to your Amazon account.
Your Kindle will automatically download the eBook wirelessly next time it connects to Wi-Fi.
Once you have logged in to Amazon’s website, you can choose to deliver the eBook to your Kindle wirelessly or download the eBook to you computer and manually transfer it to your Kindle with a USB cable.
